Who Is DJ Eclipse?
The Rhode Island-born DJ made a name for himself from filling in for Stretch Armstrong on his and Bobbito’s legendary WKCR radio show to working at Wild Pitch Records and having his hand in early releases from O.C. (D.I.T.C.). Eclipse became the DJ for MC Serch (3rd Bass) and they eventually started the group Non Phixion along with Sabac Red, ILL BILL & Goretex, establishing a cult following in the independent Hip Hop scene. For over a decade, Eclipse managed retail operations for the premiere Hip Hop record store in NYC, Fat Beats, where he became the gatekeeper of quality Hip Hop for the finest taste makers of rap music. In 1997, Crazy Legs invited Eclipse to join the Rock Steady Crew; the world’s most famous B-Boy crew. In 1998, Eclipse began an 18-year radio venture at WNYU with The Halftime Show along with DJ Riz and Lynn Gonzalez. As the now manager of groups like Heavy Metal Kings, La Coka Nostra, ILL BILL, Q-Unique, Rasheed Chappell, and more, DJ Eclipse is well-established and more than qualified to give Sirius XM listeners the best Hip Hop music experience.
What Kind Of Music Is On Rap Is Outta Control?
Mix shows are about breaking new artists and that’s just what Rap Is Outta Control does. DJ Eclipse of the Rock Steady Crew and DJ Riz of Crooklyn Clan are veterans when it comes to putting on new talent. From the likes of 50 Cent and Kanye West to Immortal Technique and Dilated Peoples, many of these artists and more came through E & Riz’s doors before they were household names. Carrying on in this tradition the duo continue to spin new material and interview guests that contribute to the culture of Hip Hop.
