Stretch & Bobbito “Radio That Changed Lives” Interview

Radio DJs Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia appeared on Rap Is Outta Control with DJ Eclipse and J57. The pair released their documentary about their legendary New York City radio show Stretch & Bobbito on WKCR. Appropriately titled Stretch and Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives, the show had a cult following of Hip Hop fans and showcased then-unknown artists such as Jay-Z, Eminem, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, The Wu-Tang Clan, Big Punisher, The Fugees, and countless others. In this video interview at Sirius XM’s Hip Hop Nation, Stretch & Bobbito talk little about the documentary and a lot about DJ Eclipse, whose first appearance on NYC radio was as a fill-in for Stretch Armstrong on the 90s show. They express the amount of respect held for DJ Eclipse as one of the only DJs to “carry the torch” by spinning independent and underground Hip Hop on a major platform. DJ Premier showed up during the interview and talked about Bobbito’s last documentary, Doin’ It In The Park, about NYC street basketball culture.
